Ian Bowles - Violin
Ian has been playing the violin for 38 years. He completed his Bachelor of Music Education Degree at the Conservatorium of Music Sydney in 1984 where he studied violin, viola, cello and double bass. Ian has been living on the North Coast for the past 25 years. He is the current leader of the Lismore Symphony Orchestra and has been a member of many bands including Inner Strings (jazz violinist), The Razz (rock, rhythm and blues) and the Western Sinfonia (Sydney). Ian was the string teacher at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium from 2001 to 2004. He now teaches strings at the Cape Byron Steiner School and Emanuel Anglican College, Ballina.
Karen Traise - Viola
Karen has been playing the violin for over 30 years and the viola for the past five years. She is a graduate of the Queensland University of Technology and has been teaching the violin in the Northern Rivers for the past 12 years. She is currently employed as a string tutor at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium of Music and is the conductor of the Poco Vivace string ensemble. Karen was a first violinist in the Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra from 1993-1997 and is the current co-leader of the Lismore Symphony Orchestra. She has been part of Tapestry from its inception and does most of the musical arrangements for the group.
Claire Yerbury - Cello
Claire started playing the cello at age 12 and for 5 years played with the Combined Sydney Schools Orchestra, twice touring regional NSW and performing with members of the Australian Opera at numerous concerts in the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Town Hall. After graduating from Sydney University, Claire travelled overseas returning to the Northern Rivers region, where she performed, recorded and toured with a Gypsy band. In 2004 she became lead cellist in the Lismore Symphony Orchestra. Claire has played on numerous pop, eclectic and classical recordings both locally and interstate and has been teaching cello for over 2 years.
